EXPERIENCE
Jamie Oliver ltd.
2017 - present
Graphic designer
I joined the in-house art department at Jamie Oliver in March of 2017, after relocating from Toronto, Canada to London. I came in on the role of Picture Desk Assistant, overseeing the massive library of 20+ years of images from Jamie’s career. Managing the database included meticulous attention to detail in the organisation of the images and providing photo retouching.
I transferred roles to Graphic Designer in 2018, which is now my full-time role. I work closely with the Social Media, Marketing and Commercial teams to provide assets used on Jamie’s social media channels, website and with his many international partners. The diversity of projects means no two days at work are the same, and I’m often switching between graphic design, animation, photo retouching, digital design, prop making, stop-frame direction, art direction and illustration.
Recently, I have been working on Jamie’s upcoming 2022 cookbook ONE, as a publishing designer.
THP Agency
2014 - 2017
Photo retoucher & graphic designer
I joined THP when it was still a start-up, as a photo retoucher working with global brands, on photographic campaigns spanning digital, print advertising, and OOH. My role involved editing a high volume of images to frequently tight deadlines, ensuring quality and brand standards were always kept to a high degree, and mentoring team members to ensure best practice. I met with account managers, photographers and clients to consult and offer solutions to on-set/in-camera challenges.
Working with the senior management team and jointly with video and photography departments, developed promotional content as the agency expanded their service offering to include sports, lifestyle and beauty brands. Worked with account managers to initiate the expansion of THP’s services to include graphic design, where I provided print and digital design work for clients, working to brand guidelines and receiving and applying feedback as necessary.
Freelance photo retoucher
2010 - 2014
I began working as a freelance photo retoucher and photographic assistant after graduating from Humber College’s Commercial Photography program in 2010. Freelancing gave me the chance to work with established photographers and learn what the industry was really like. While sometimes difficult, I credit my freelancing experience in forming the work ethic I have today. Working to tight deadlines and coming up with creative solutions on the fly has lead to confident decision-making and flexibility when things go pear-shaped.
One of my main clients during this time was Paul Alexander, overseeing the management of his digital photography archive and other freelance retouchers. I would attend shoot days and keep all incoming photography organised, sometimes providing to-the-minute photo retouching as images came in. In this time I had the opportunity to work with Nike and the Canadian Olympic Committee, EMI Music, as well as Toronto Life magazine and Dine magazine.
